Job Description: Estimator (Engineering)

Our Ashford based client is looking for an Estimator to join their team. As an Estimator, you will be responsible for accurately assessing the costs and resources required for engineering projects. Your ability to analyse project specifications and collaborate with various stakeholders will be crucial in ensuring the successful completion of projects within budget and time line constraints.

Duties include:

Review project plans, specifications, and other relevant documents to understand project requirements and objectives.
Collaborate with engineers, architects, and other project stakeholders to gather necessary information for accurate cost estimation.
Conduct thorough analysis of project scope, materials, labour, and equipment required to develop comprehensive cost estimates.
Utilise industry-standard estimating software and tools to prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates.
Prepare and present cost estimates to project managers, clients, and other stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of all cost components.
Continuously monitor and update cost estimates throughout the project life cycle, considering any changes in scope, design, or market conditions.
Coordinate with procurement team to obtain accurate pricing for materials and equipment.
Collaborate with subcontractors and suppliers to gather quotes and negotiate pricing to ensure competitive cost estimates.
Maintain accurate records of cost estimates, proposals, and related documentation.

Requirements:

Proven experience as an Estimator, preferably in the engineering or construction industry.
Strong analytical and mathematical skills with the ability to interpret complex technical drawings and specifications.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in cost estimation.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders.
Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.
Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and work under pressure.

Info & Benefits:

This is a full time (fully office based) permanent role and the hours of work are Monday-Thursday 8am – 5pm & Friday 8am – 4pm.
